Big Silver Horses
In this short video [05:26] I tell of a dream. It was recorded in my Detroit apartment on 21 June 2020, during the Covid lockdowns, the plague years. It already looks and feels like a raw time capsule from the distant past, though we all know it wasn’t so long ago. I’m not sure what, or if anything, might be made of this nocturnal churn-and-ramble, what, if anything, shows forth. But I sure do remember it. The dream is something I’m sharing with a study group. It seems to ask questions about several things, perhaps about parenthood and children (the Locusts again). Maybe about loneliness and rupture, about love and fear and trust. And about uncertainty and incompletion.
You ask if you were perhaps altruistic in leading the horses up the stairs, as a way to save your boys. A necessary question, and a hopeful answer. However, you were surprised at first that the horses could fit in the staircase. Perhaps the question is, Why were you abandoning your boys, leaving them to fight the beasts on their own?
You really ought to consider a career in voice overs or storytelling.
