The pageant of life. I've heard of Amsterdam's vitality, its bawdy nature, and unabashed independence from the rest of the world. As a writer, no wonder you feel at home there. Wonderful reading of a morning reverie. Thank you.
Your reflections give the reader a sense of time coming into its own again rather than being a unit of measured outputs, performances and responses. Being and living in time rather than being harried and driven along a clockface. Thank you for that, as always.
It is good to see you had such a good time at NIAS. I will want to look at their fellowship programme. Right now I am in a very similar and yet different place. The Herzog-August-Bibliothek in Wolfenbuettel in the north-east of Germany. A research library in an old northern German ducal city. A place that has preserve a genuine "Lesekultur". I think one of your pupils is here as well, you told me.
May the giants among us aways be around.

And ... what are you up to writing on giants?! When can we hear more about it?
Hi Ken,

Have a good summer.

Here, here, sweet Harald. Wolfenbuettel and your library sound excellent lairs for your own observations: enjoy. May our paths cross soon.
Happy to have you in my inbox this morning, Kenneth. Enjoyed the “giants among us” very much.
PS. They're everywhere, no?
