The first is “Hopeful Monsters,” which you might peruse if you haven’t yet (Hotel Adlon also plays an important role). The second is Berliners finding holes in the wall all over Europe and beyond that remind them of home. A tiny, crappy, which is to say perfect bar in Naples comes to mind..

Great Ken. His Berlin Noir is fabulous, particularly the third one, after the war. It has the great mood of an aftermath.
