Absolutely terrific pictures, Ken, of the bird's magnificent plumage! (Is this the same bird?) We have become friends with a stubborn stoic heron at one stretch of the Oxford canal, who evokes alternately admiration, awe, fears of loneliness, and a model of patience. It seems to lack competitors.
